Works Great for Lump Charcoal
I see other reviewers complaining that this bin is rated at 24# capacity but it won't hold close to that in lump charcoal. This is true because 20#'s of lump charcoal requires more space than 24#'s of briquettes which is what Kingsford makes. With a little effort I managed to get over 20#'s of B&B XL Premium lump to fit. The first thing you'll need to do is not open the bag until you're ready to use the charcoal because you will need to pour some off to get the lid on the bin. The next step is the key to it all. Before opening the bag, gently tip the bag over so the top is on the ground. Now work the bin over the bottom of the bag. Slowly invert the bag and the bin allowing the charcoal and the bag to slide into the bin (take your time on this step and gently shake the bin and the bag so as not to break the charcoal, let gravity do the work). Set the bin upright and open the bag. Now add charcoal to your grill. Cut the excess bag off leaving 1 - 2" above the rim and snap the lid in place. The 20# bags of B&B fit without needing to pour off any of the charcoal.

Used a dog food one for years tell I caught it on fire.
I had the clear dog food on that was given to me for my charcoal. Basically the same bin but slightly smaller and has a poor spout on the lid as well as the larger door. Loved it tell I was dumb and tried to add more charcoal to my grill by dumping it on to the fire the charcoal was match light coals and the flame shot right up into the bin lucky thies bins are air tight I swiftly put the lid on and it stopped. But 4 days later the side of the bin became hard and brittle and cracked. So I got this one it's a bit bigger and the lid only has the large door but that perfect and it's a little bit bigger too.Love thies bins this brand makes great bins.

Great Value-Perfect for Pellets
This was a great alternative for me to store my pellets Vs. buying a branded bucket for 2-3x more. The bucket is easy to handle with one hand when half to two-thirds full. It's easily managed with two hands. Other pail style buckets might be too heavy for those not used to carrying 20-40 lbs. of pellets. Further, the larger the bucket, the more pellets, the harder to lift and load your hopper...something to consider. So while this is capable of 40# of pellets, I would caution filling it full. This does make the Kaddy only about 1/2 full which some people may consider a waste of space. I don't have a problem with it.I do empty my pellets and bring them inside after each cook as the weather here can get quite humid. Wet pellets and moisture can really wreak havoc on pellet grills. I haven't tried to see how water/weather proof this Kaddy is...but it does snap tight and seem like it might handle the occasional shower or mild humidity.

Just Need Larger Size
4-stars for two reasons. First, it was really a struggle to take the lid off the first time. I guess this is a positive from a water-tight perspective, but a hassle from an ease of use perspective. Second, I can only fit 10 lbs of lump charcoal in it, and I buy 20 lb. bags. The container seems to be made for holding bags of briquettes.

I use it to hold dog food!
I bought this to hold my dog's food. It can easily hold a 40 lbs bag. I did search online for a container to hold the food and everything I found was too cheap looking- like large Tupperware with a lid (and waaaay more expensive!). This has a lid that securely snaps in place, and then a flap that you can fold up to access the food. The flap is large enough that I can fit my hand inside and scoop out the dog food with a plastic cup (I use one of those kiddie party character cups). If needed, like when I get to the last bits of dog food, the container has a handle with makes it easy to lift and dump the remaining dog food out. I was unable to remove the the Kingford label/decal on the lid but it was easily covered up/decorated by daughter by using those water bottle stickers.

Perfect for wood pellets
I now have 11 of these, each with my favorite pellet flavor of the day. They are rated at 20lbs, just the size of a bag of pellets. However, the volume is large enough to handle two bags.My only suggestion would be to have labels available to write the type of pellets. I tried a permanent marker on my first one and hate it. For now I have labels from the bags of pellets inside the container to tell which flavor. I shouldn’t have to open the container to find out what is in it.

Excellent storage option
I have been looking for a solution for charcoal briquettes for a couple years. Leaving briquettes outside, even in the cabinet under my gas grill, is a risk. And leaving them in the garage is equally risky with snow and slush melting and rain water running off of the cars. Now, more recently, I have added pellets for a smoker into the mix. These storage containers are tough (well built), easy to handle, and stackable... which is an awesome space saver. I haven’t tested them for water tightness, but I suspect that they should hold up well for light rain or morning dew. My only quibble is that I feel like the lid may pop off while pouring sometimes. Overall, I am very pleased with them.
