ANC doesn't work when in wired mode.

Yes. There is a voice prompt to indicate the battery level when turning on the headphones.

When the headphones are turned on they're in reconnect mode. They're not in pairing mode, there's a button on the back of the right one that you press and hold to put them in pairing mode to connect to a new device. The automatic noise canceling you do through the app on your phone or your tablet, it's one of the controls right there on the first page.
