Good clear lens protection filter.
I have a wide array of this type of clear lens protector filter on a lifetime collection of lenses. These are kind of the sweet spot between price and optical quality. In this case, it’s really a potentially sacrificial protector. You just want it to not affect shot quality negatively. This can happen due to poor glass or coatings or (with ultra wides) the filter ring getting in the corners of the shot, especially stacking filters. I have many German and Japanese name brand makes and the difference in optical coatings is negligible and incremental. I think the optical quality of the glass and coatings are adjacent to the best glass and I think most people would not be able to tell a difference. The filter ring depth is decent, but really just average, but not a concern in the lenses and applications I’ve used this filter on. I edited this to comment on the trendy olio/hydrophobic coating on this filter. I tend to not touch my objective much at all and clean it regularly. Does it prevent finger prints and drop spots? No, not at all. If anything, it seems a little easier to clean. Some coatings are hard to clean. This one isn’t.

Excellent UV Filter: Reliable Protection and Crystal-Clear Images!
The Hoya 49MM NXT Plus UV filter has been an outstanding addition to my camera gear, offering both lens protection and improved image quality. Based on other users’ experiences, I was confident it would deliver, and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s lightweight yet durable, with a hydrophobic coating that makes cleaning smudges or water spots a breeze—just as others have noted. I’ve used it during bright outdoor shoots, and it effectively reduces haze while maintaining sharpness and color accuracy, matching the glowing feedback I’ve read. Best of all, it doesn’t interfere with my lens cap or hood, which several reviewers highlighted as a key convenience. Overall, it’s a reliable, well-made filter that lives up to the praise!

Worth every penny
Works perfectly. Very slim profile. Dramatically reduced visible chromatic aberration and protects the element from damage. I’ll be buying more

Filter is great. Packaging is pathetic.
The product was as I expected it to be. The packaging was awful. There was no bubble wrap for an item that is essentially glass.

Not so Slim
While the optics of this filter are likely good, I was attracted to the slim fit attribute for my Olympus TG-5. Different than the slim designs for the Hoya filters I have purchased for my Nikon SLR, this filter comes in two inseparable pieces to enable rotation like a polarizing filter only UV does not require rotation. This is not shown in the photo and makes the filter both thicker and difficult to thread. Returned and went with a Hoya 40.5mm HMC UV Digital Slim Frame Multi-Coated Glass Filter which was in a single frame, also multicoated and much cheaper.

Excellent quality for the price
Crystal clear optics for my Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM. Screws in effortlessly and stays tight. Nice to be able to carry around the camera and shoot without having to worry about the lens getting scratched and makes cleaning a breeze. Did a whole motorcycle trip to Zion with this on my lens and my shots came out beautifully. I only buy Hoya lenses as they give you so much value for the money.

The Hoya 77mm NXT Plus UV filter is exactly what I wanted to protect my lens without affecting image quality. The glass is very clear, and the multi‑coating does a great job reducing flare and reflections. Installation was easy, and the slim frame prevents vignetting even on wide lenses.

This is the second time I have purchased a Hoya lens filter and I have been very happy with both of them. They are good quality filters.
