Official Wii Component Video Cable

These cables are great! If you have an HDTV or just a TV with component inputs, these cables are a necessity for better picture. I have both a CRT style TV with component inputs and a 1080p HDTV. Both TV's have more vibrant colors and better picture when using the component cables. Make sure that your HDTV supports 480p if you want the Wii to display in that resolution. DO NOT TRY TO ENABLE 480P IN THE WII SETTINGS IF YOUR TV WILL NOT DISPLAY THAT RESOLUTION. For those not noticing a difference compared to the included Composite Cables this can be atttributed to 2 things: 1. You have forgotten to enable 480p in the Wii Settings 2. Your HDTV does not display 480p as well as it's native resolution like 1080i/1080p. Not all HDTV's are built the same. ***VERY IMPORTANT FOR 480p Output*** -Please note that your TV must be a high-definition TV (HDTV) or enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) to view 480p output. -You will also be required to change your Wii settings from Standard TV (480i) to EDTV/HDTV to view 480p. ***VERY IMPORTANT FOR 480p Output*** Super Mario Galaxy looks even more incredible with these cables!! If you've been playing console games for any length of time, you're used to overpriced accessories, and the Wii is no exception. Branded SD cards, component cables with a proprietary adapter, $20 for a nunchuck, etc. If you're willing to pay the extra for first-party assurance, this cable is for you. After having the Wii for a few months and having to crawl around behind the entertainment console every time we took it somewhere else (it's a hit at family gatherings and other get-togethers), I decided to get another A/V cable. This way, I would just have to unplug the console and leave the A/V cable (the power adapter and sensor bar are much easier to unplug and pack) when we traveled. I highly recommend this if you take your Wii on the road often. If you do decide to do this, you might as well get the component cable for your place. It does exactly what is says: enables 480p display of the signal coming from your Wii. This is not HD, but it looks better than the normal 480i. I have compared the difference on my 50" Panasonic TH-50PX80U (720p) and on my parents' 50" Pioneer PDP-5080HD (720p), and while it does smooth the lines and make the overall picture more crisp, it's not like going from standard to high definition. If I showed you the different pictures a week apart, you might not be able to tell the difference. When we're traveling and using the composite cables, I don't notice unless I'm looking for it. That said, if you're going to be staring at the picture for hours and hours at a time, it's probably worth 12% of the cost of the unit to make that picture look its best. You can go the third-party route, but it's worth it to me to know it's going to work and look good instead of wondering about the manufacturing quality of that $10 generic cable. It is a bit annoying that you can't splice the audio and video ends as much as with the composite cable, but that's easily taken care of with a trip to your local audio shop for extenders or the routing of signals from your TV to your receiver: most newer TVs will have digital or optical out and almost all TVs have composite out. I haven't experienced degradation in signal from bundling the cable behind the TV, but I keep it away from the rest of the cables, so that might help. I also had to muscle the connectors in, but all good component cables I've bought are the same way. Unless you're taking them off every week, just be happy they'll never come off. As other reviewers have pointed out, the Wii does not automatically switch to 480p when you start using this cable. You'll have to manually switch it in the Wii Settings. Also, it should go without saying, but make sure you do have a free component input on your TV and that it can display 480p. Pros - First-party, Nintendo-branded - Makes picture a little more crisp - Can set this up to stay at home and travel with the composite Cons - Overpriced - Can only split audio and video connectors a little Verdict I'd buy it again.

While Nintendo has yet to make the leap into the modern HD market, they are at least taking steps in the right direction. The cable performs well and there is a notable increase in clarity and sharpness of image. However, I myself had a bit of an ordeal in the set-up and use of this product. The problem was that you have to manually switch from 480i to 480p in the Wii menu; the console will not automatically switch from one to the other if you simply change the cord. The problem with this is you can't make the switch while still using the composite cable, you have to be using the component. As such, if you have to switch it manually... when you boot up the console while using the the component cable for the first time, there is no image on the screen. I found myself switching back and forth between cables trying to memorized the process to make the manual switch, no easy task I assure you, especially with motion sensitive controls. After roughly 20 minutes of blind pointing and clicking, I finally managed to make the switch. As previously stated, the difference is clearly noticeable. Hopefully I'm one of few who have had this problem, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there was an obvious detour that I somehow managed to overlook. On the other hand... quite a design flaw if that happens to be the case for all.

The only way to truely enjoy HD on a Wii console, this would be the cable to do just that. Sure there's other brand names out there with a lower price or in some cases, a higher price (Monster) but when everything is said and done...You can't get any better cables than the official liscensed product. I mean you are buying a product that was made by the same people who made the product you are buying it for! Why wouldn't you buy it because not only are you getting that comforting fact but you are also getting trust and reliability which can go a long way. I did consider buying those Monster Cables but, this is Nintendo we're talking about here and I wasn't about to question their own product, So do yourself favor and get these cables because not only are you buying a Licensed product but you are also getting over 20 years of experience and reliability that is Nintendo. I have my Nintendo Wii hooked up by these cables on my 40" 1080p LCD HDTV *~*Special Note~*~ Just so you know, the highest resolution you can get on the Nintendo Wii (as of right now) is 480p, so don't think you'll be able to play Wii games in 1080p or anything, but still its a great picture!

Consegna: puntuale, nella giornata stabilita da amazon. Complimenti! Imballaggio: si può fare di meglio, il cartone che conteneva la scatola del cavo aveva una sezione schiacciata. Certo, trattandosi di un cavo ovviamente il danno subito all'articolo è inesistente, ma se fosse stato qualche pezzo fragile ... boh :) Articolo: per chi è possessore di un televisore in alta definizione, il cavo component è il primo acquisto da fare in assoluto. Noterete immediatamente la differenza qualitativa delle immagini in tutti i giochi. I colori sono molto più corposi, godrete di particolari che prima non vedevate e donerete a Mario la qualità video che si merita :)

Je ne pensais pas au vu des commentaires plus ou moins chaud arriver à une telle différence d'image mais: WOUAH on a simplement plus l'impression d'avoir affaire à la même console, les images ne sont plus baveuses et ne scintillent plus grâce au taux de rafraichissement grandement amélioré, aucune latence : pour des jeux comme Guitar Hero par exemple plus besoin de décaler l'image comme avec le câble original de la Wii... Je ne le conseille pas je le recommande indiscutablement il est indispensable... Bien que trop cher quand l'on compare ça a un cable HDMI Amazon Basics à 6,99 pour connecter une console vraiment HD ça pique un peu mais si vous aimez la Wii vous ne pouvez vous en passer...

I was having troubles connecting my Wii to the tv without having the infamous brightness issue occurring, and for a while, I had a set up where it was connected through a VCR player via scart splitter. It was a mess. However, I'm entering a phase where I will be moving back and forth often, and I can't lug around that elaborate set up with me, so I decided to chance it, and purchase a proper cable for the Wii, to see if it fixed the issue. Enter the Component Cable. This cable initially put me off due to the high price. However I saw no alternatives, as I did not wish to gamble with third party cables and the price either matched, or was lower than other retailers I know of. So I purchased this cable. The delivery was speedy and having plugged it in to my TV, and set the settings on the Wii settings menu to HDTV (that's important), the brightness issue was completely resolved, the corners were more defined vastly improving graphics on the games I've tested thus far, and the colour was also greatly enhanced, leading to an all around much sharper image. Of course, the only con I can think of here is the price. This is high above what I'd usually be comfortable paying for a cable. However, I focus my reviews on quality and not retail price, and if you can look past that, you won't be disappointed in the cable. So if you're suffering from the brightness issue or would rather see games in higher definition (although still not true HD - the wii isn't capable of that), purchase this cable.
