Holton French Horn Leather Hand Guard

A nice hand grip for the Holton Horn. I installed it on a H179, fits fine

Took some lacing and relacing to get to conform to the curves of the horn. Also had to "surgically" trim so as not to conflict with the thumb trigger on this particular instrument. Very comfortable.

This is definitely a must-have accessory for serious french horn players, especially if you're playing an older horn with lacquer that's starting to rub off. I bought this for someone I know very well as a gift, and they don't know how they survived wtihout it. They quote "it's nice because it looks professional plus my hands don't smell and it helps to keep hand placement for faster fingering". It's inexpensive, and I'd highly recommend it.

This hand guard is a simple piece of leather with a shoestring to tie it around where your hand would go. It does not conform to the curve of the horn and didn't fit my horn at all. I ended up cutting it up and using the leather pieces in a craft project.

It is a nice piece of leather, but they could have made it just a little bigger. Lacing it up like a shoe is painful - velcro is a much better method. If you lace it tightly, there is still a gap and because of the horn's curved tubing, the guard wrinkles. Could have been designed better.

this hand grip works as advertised, and is good for stabilizing the horn.It would have been helpful to have some lacing instructions.
