Great
Had a cheap Behringer interface before this. Had to pick up my jaw off the floor after plugging this in and running sound through it. I was missing so much! Love the Neve transistors. The tone is GOLD.

Overall pleasant performer - with one big exception
I thought this would be an interesting DAC to test since it had the Neve preamps. I have the latest Scarlett Gen 3 as well which I have dedicated to decoding high def music. I was looking for something to input instruments ( via DI box and also using the front Hi-Z input). The Neve preamps are very nicely integrated into the physical package and the quality is excellent. The main output was just a bit too sterile and digital - I don't hear the same warmth of the transformer that I get from products like Black Lion Audio or Warm Audio. Overall I would give the sound quality a 4. The real pain comes in the software install. When I saw Yamaha was involved I started to get nervous. I've had nothing but bad luck installing the necessary things on OSX to get some Yamaha products to work. And the Steinberg software is not much better. This is the first time it took way me more than necessary to implement and install (this is DAC #14 in my collection - I test and compare and use them for various music instrument purposes). Back and forth with the different sheets and codes - and it really ended up that I had to do some direct downloads to fix the problems. This is NOT acceptable in today's environment. And the the totally silly eLicense software requirement. After hours I still could not get the VTS plugins to work so I just removed them. And a message to Steinberg - if you are going to shove the eLicense software in our face - then at least integrate it into your special Steinberg download assistant so you can download the right version. Talk to Native Instruments and look at their software - they do it right.

Absolutely Amazing!
Look no further, just grab it while you can. Sound quality is on the money. Pair this with a pair of Yamaha reference monitors and you're good to go!

Nope
Just didn’t work as easily or effectively as my cheap UA volt. I was hoping it would sound better for my sennheiser hd6xx headphones but it almost blew them up. Some weird distortion intermittently screaming in my ears. No issues with the UA and drivers all were updated

I just love the Neve transformers
I just love the Neve transformers. What a great unit. This is a great value considering the Neve hardware. The hardware driver works well with Ableton Live and ProTools.

Fantastic recording quality
I needed an interface for high quality vocal recordings and the Steinburg UR-RT2 works like a charm. I have a Shure PG58 which is not the best microphone but the interface made a huge difference. The sound quality is podcast/radio ready. Love it!
