absolutely amazing kinfe
one of the first knives i bought after subscribing to nutnfancy on youtube a couple years ago, i have never been unhappy that i bought the tech bowie. everything he said in his review is true. starting at the handle, it's great. the finger grooves fit my own perfectly, unlike the seal pup elite (which are a bit wider and more spread out). the molded kraton is super comfortable and it's not too long or too short. the butt cap is nicely done, big enough so you know it's there, but not ridiculous. hammerable and has a lanyard hole too. the cross-guard is steel and all the metal pieces are finished with the tini coating. the blade has a choil larger than that of the gov-tac and easily accommodates my forefinger for choking up. it's a great bowie design, needle sharp tip with the faceted point and great belly. it came out of the box razor sharp, only slightly sharper now that i touched it up on a steel rod honer. it competes with my gov-tac for sharpest knife i have. the stock is .24" and is full thickness for 3.5". it tapers very gently, unlike the gov-tac, into that thin point. the grinds are smoother and all the edges are softened, also unlike the gov-tac, making this a prettier knife. i do worry about abusing the tip because it tapers to that fine point, no doubt it'd be great for penetration. so i label this knife as a fighter and not exactly an outdoors knife. the tini finish is not so much a 'coating' but is instead more of a process done to the outermost layer of metal, kind of similar to bluing on guns. it's very sleek, glossy, and wear resistant and to keep it looking its best, use oil and wipe off the excess or wipe it down with a silicone gun cloth. the sheath is great, kydex so no water damaging it, no rotting or soaking up to rust the knife because it's got a drainage hole. i like more compactness with my knives, so i usually leave off the button clasp and belt attachment. the sheath is very form-fitting and sleek. as with all my sogs, this tech bowie had amazing fit and finish, pretty much perfect quality control and it's just a cool blade imho. sharp, strong, and so far, AUS-8 has been proving itself pretty well. i would highly recommend this for any collector or knife enthusiast, along with anyone wanting a capable medium sized, perfectly made fixed blade. i would classify this knife more of a hunter/fighter than utility and outdoors survival, but that's just my take.

Fantastic workhorse knife!
Thick, SHARP blade. Very durable. I've used this knife for everything from splitting small logs for the campfire, to carving pumpkins, to hammering tent stakes. Perfect combination of functionality and looks. BEAUTIFUL TiNi finish on the blade, which also adds to the durability (I store my knife out of the sheath with a thin layer of gun oil and it has remained spotless even with hard use). Regarding the sheath, I opted for kydex and have been very happy. It offers flexibility in how you carry the knife, whether sideways, upside down, etc. and the plastic retention clip is secure enough to easily hold the knife upside without even using the strap...though, I'd recommend using the strap. The blade itself is very similar (nearly identical) to SOGs "SEAL Team", but I think the handle really sets this knife apart. It's thicker and heavier, with a slightly sticky rubberized surface that securely and perfectly fits into my hand. On backpacking trips, I opt for my SOG SEAL Pup knife because it is substantially lighter weight and a more manageable size, but the Tech Bowie is truly a backcountry knife. Its size and durability make it capable of almost any task you could ask of it.

Absolutely amazing
This is one of the more special knives that you can have in your arsenal. Beautiful, sharp, well balanced knife that you will pick up about 10 times a day just because you have it. Would rather have it as a showcase piece that use it in the wilderness, only bc I did not expect it to be really this nice of a knife. There is one minor issue, it holds and edge for a long time, but when that time comes where you need to sharpen it, be careful because the black titanium nitrate (TiNi) blade does scratch easily, and you will see the Aus 8 stainless steel come through. This is one issue I did not expect. I chose this knife over the Ka-Bar because of the stainless steel over the carbon, which rusts. Bottom line, if you are thinking about buying this knife and are concerned about the money, don't be. This knife is absolutely worth every penny and if you are a knife man a must have. Take my word for it, it's near perfect.

Great Knife
The balance of this knife is amazing and it has a really great edge to it. The sheath is also great but a little stiff at times which could be good or bad depending on how/where you wear your sheath. The model I received, however, had a slight yellow discoloration to the white stripes on the handle. What should be contemporary styling (which I was excited about) has just become somewhat of an eyesore for me. The white stripes were yellow and dirty/discolored straight out of the box but it does not affect the usefulness or performance of the knife. It's still a superb replacement for my old buck and after lot's of use I'm sure the white stripes would get dirty anyway. Maybe I'm over reacting, but I notice these things. Just to be clear the performance of of the knife is flawless. The condition it arrives in however, may not be so flawless.

Gorgeous Knife
Gorgeous well made knife. I want the 2.0, the silver one and the super tech Bowie now! The sheath is OK. Similar to a Cold Steel but, it does snap in and doesn’t drag on the blade. A plus.

A dream knife, worth every penny
This is an awesome compromise between light 5-inch blades and long, heavy 7-inch blades. More compact than a Seal Team, about an ounce lighter, without the serrations. (I love the Seal Team, but serrations are not my first choice.) It also skips the rasp back of the SOG Elite knives, which aren't sharp at all and work only on green wood, in my experience. Also gone are the hard-as-a-rock handles of the Seal Teams and Pups. The Tech Bowie's handle is a softer material. The Pup Elite and Seal Team are stellar performers at cutting and hacking (I love hollow-ground blades with thick spines), and one look tells me the Tech Bowie can match them ounce-for-ounce. And - a rarity - mine literally would shave hair right out of the box. The sheath that came with mine works fine, easy in and out, and the snap closes easily. I usually care nothing about knife cosmetics, but omg, the Tech Bowie is drop dead gorgeous. If mine gets scuffed up out in the sticks, I might have to get a second one.

Very good knife, crappy sheath
This knife is very sharp and feels good in the hand. The blade's edge is fairly sharp as I have noticed my finger was cut and I didn't feel anything until I started bleeding. I cut my self mostly because of the crappy kydex sheath that came with it. Putting it in is a pain in the ass, you have to get it in very precisely or else it is not going in. I fear that every time i don't get it in right the upper 1/3 of the edge is wearing down because I keep messing up and it keeps sliding against the plastic inside. The strap that is supposed to keep the blade handle from flopping around is also very difficult to button because one side is just slightly too short. I suggest that if you are going to buy the knife, buy it with the nylon sheath for the SEAL Elite knife from SOG's website, it is a perfect fit. The knife is very good looking and a good fit in the hand, very well balanced. Over all this is a very good knife, but it is unfortunately paired with a very poorly designed sheath that is bulky and hard to use.

I swear by SOG
Listen the price tag on this is beyond worth it, I’ve had these tools for quite a long time. Highly durable, workhorses, and great weapons if needed to be. From the Bowie to the Hatchet I couldn’t be happier after years of abuse. If you’re in the military and need a knife stop waiting and get you a weapon that will hold up to everything and help you through, get this SOG knife and enjoy hero!
