Very solid product but caution needed
This is a very robust feeling product and the ink flow and colour is really excellent. You do need to be careful though if you’re a first-time user like me, as when you release the ring that blocks the ink flow, it can come out fast! I got the medium-sized brush and it’s really difficult as a novice to use it for the size of average handwriting (if you know what I mean). It requires practice to be able to write at a normal handwriting size but if that’s what you’re determined to be able to do, you’ll do it. The characters look lovely in this ink and the brush is really good for the dynamics between thick and thin strokes. Enjoy writing your 汉子! 👍🙂

Love it
I bought these to do traditional Chinese paintings. It’s a great pen. The brush end is great. The top part where the ink is stored is thin plastic but you squeeze this part to move the ink down. It works great compared to the non refillable ones I’ve had because they work more like felt tip pens and don’t have the same flow or movement with your strokes. The only other one similar is the other pentel refillable one.

Fun and Reliable Brush Pen
Nice brush pen - reliable ink flow. Lovely for drawing, but a steep learning curve if (like me) you're too used to fineliners and dip pens... :)

Great product but in the Chinese language
So I got it. And honestly, I thought at the beginning I thought it will be refilling one, not the one which contains ink already. Problem is I really enjoy pen tip but everything was in Chinese on the description. Even how to start to use in. I wish at least there was an English description of how to start to use in the amazon page. But overall, the product is lovely and come on time in good condition.

Amazing pen
Bought this for my girlfriend as she really wanted a brush pen to do pencil-less sketching and ink drawings (Now she is using it for inktober). The pen took a while to get here but it is from Japan so that was to be expected, however the tracking was kept up to date and it arrived when it said it would. The pen is easy to use after a bit of practice with controlling lines and pressure but once you get the hand of it, it is an amazing tool to have.

Excellent for east Asian calligraphy
The pen comes with a brush of perfect size for small characters writing. The synthetic bristle is still not as good as the real animal bristle on a traditional Chinese brush pen, however if taking the portability / ease of maintenance into consideration, I am perfectly happy with this pen. Will buy more when my current ones run out.

Contrary to what some might say, this ink isn't waterproof
This is an amazing pen, fantastically easy to use and control, perfect for fancy writing and for intricate art. The synthetic brush tip behaves as a brush would and you don't even have to keep dipping the tip because it comes pre-loaded with ink. When you've pierced the reservoir, just remove the red ring and squeeze ... and squeeze ... and ... eventually the ink will flow. There is a handy diagram included. This isn't, however, waterproof ink. This is something you could never know because all of the lettering on the pen and packaging are in what I think is Japanese, so you won't be able to read it unless you happen to be able to read Japanese. I know the ink isn't waterproof because I used the pen to outline something on a canvas and ended up with a rather fetching effect of smudged ink when applying the paint. So not altogether a disaster but worthy of note.In summary, this is a lovely utensil. Get it, but remember about the ink.

Better than the portable though difference is subtle
Edit: if you oversqueeze it does leak out the side and get ink on your handsI purchased this pen and the portable Pentel fude (which doesn't require squeezing to fill the bristle) and I love both but this is my favorite. While the portability of the other is convenient, I prefer the width of this one and that you can squeeze to control how saturated the tip is.It came in a little brown envelope with Japanese postage stamps so I wasn't quite sure what the package was at first. Not Amazon packaging at all but I'll probably keep the stamps. There are indeed three cartridges in total whereas with the portable there's only two (one that goes in the pen and a backup). It's very easy to put together and the tip is quick to fill.
