Nite Ize Spokelit LED Bicycle Spoke Light for Bike Wheels, Green

I purchased 2 of these lights (1 for each tire) to add to the safety gear I use while riding in the wee hours of the morning and late at night before and after work. This is a great product that allows you to be more visible to others from the side.Pros:- Added Safety Visibility- Easy to use, fairly easy to install- Cost effective- Durable- Great for low light times- Cheap battery replacement, (mine haven't run out yet - but my commute is short)Cons:- To activate them can be a little tough with winter gloves, I find.- Hypothetically these could be easily stolen, but they're cheap - and a little bit of glue could dissuade someone.Notes:- At the speed I'm going on my mountain bike, it doesn't give a solid circle of light. It all depends on the effect you're looking for. Can't go wrong with 4 (2 per wheel) if you're looking for a more solid line.- With 4 lights they'd probably put off a pretty good glow to see your immeadiate surroundings when dark.I'd recommend them to anyone looking to spiff up their bike, or looking for additional safety when riding.

These spoke lights seem to be hit or miss.I bought 2 for my bike and they were hard to get on to the spoke but once I did they really did stay. I tested them outside and had people turning there heads. It really did light my bike up enough for everyone to see me. Great!I then bought two for my boyfriends bike. The opening in the plastic for the spoke is so small on the ones that arrived that we couldn't even get them on and we're probably going to have to take a knife and try to open it up more.Also the buttons to turn on the lights are either easy or incredibly difficult to turn on. On one I had to press so hard to turn it on that I actually hurt my thumb.They are great when they work but the inconsistency of the product is baffling.

I really like this light. I know from driving that a car that a bike approaching from 90 degrees in the dark is hard to see even with headlights and taillights. You see nothing and then, boom, they are right in your headlights which is later than I'd like. So I got 2 of these so cars could see me in the dark. The color of light is really cool (sometimes people make space sound effects when I ride by) and it improves my side visibility about 1,000%.A warning: the on-off switch takes some muscle to operate (I'm 175 lb slender 57 yr old man). A kid or small women will need a pair of pliers to work this.A suggestion: mount it in your spokes so the switch is on the side you normally get off the bike, usually the left, so you can easily get your thumb on switch side to turn it on/off. Otherwise you have to twist your hand over the tire. You'll see.Because of the switch difficulty, I'll give it 4 instead of 5 stars, but I still love it. I think it should be required by law.I guess the switch is difficult because it has to seal very tightly because it could get drenched by puddles and such.

I've been very happy with my spokelit so far. I rarely bike at night, but since I live in NYC, I want to be sure I show up to cars when I do.I have found the spokelit to be very bright. People notice it pretty quickly and even with the ambient city light that NYC offers nearly everywhere, the light shows up.Obviously I don't see it from the perspective of a car, as I am riding the bike, but I know that pedestrians often look and pay attention.Since they look more or less like a reflector, I have not yet had a problem with one being stolen, even though I leave them on my bike when I lock it up. (They're a lot of hassle to take off and on each time you lock your bike.)Definitely would be a fun a cute gift for a kid as well. (Though you really shouldn't have your kid riding at night much unless it's just in your yard.)

I saw this item on a recommended list of new gadgets that would make perfect small/stocking-stuffer-type gifts and so was excited to find them online and just as the techie article had described them. They would have been perfect, too, because my son and daughter both got new bicycles for their respective birthdays this year. Unfortunately, the seller probably did not have enough in stock because I got a "could not ship" message a few days after placing the order. In fact, the message I received blamed the problem on the shipping address, which was odd because the two SpokeLits I ordered were just two items in a larger order, and all the other items arrived. So, the idea for the product is good, but the company is not, is my impression.

I think there must be a bad batch of these at the Amazon warehouse. I ordered two and neither worked. The two replacements arrived this weekend and one looks like it is working, the other came on dimly, but then died out. So, 3 out of 4 were DOA. It looked like the 3 all had dead batteries or were broken. This wasn't an issue of turning off demo mode, as some folks have encountered in the other reviews. I'm really disappointed, as I chose these vs. another cheaper version, assuming these would be better quality.

It's a spoke light, and it's green, with constant and flashing modes as advertised.Easy to fit, no tools required.Switch requires quite a hard press to activate, but you know it won't be switching itself on accidentally.Obviously not a replacement for normal front/rear bike lights, but anything that helps visibility is good.Good value, recommended - other colours are available.Only used once so far so hard to judge battery life, hence only 4 stars for now.

Ordered four, and only two actually worked. Very disappointing that I had to replace the batteries before even getting to use it. Before purchasing I would expect to pay an additional $10 per unit to replace the batteries.
