Best wifi extender I have had
This works fantastic I replaced a cheap China one with this now I get great signal in every room .My house is old with thick walls so the cheaper one didn't work ..Setting up with the wps is a doddle .A tip use the wps set up and do it twice as it needs both bands .If you do it manually you won't get the exact same network and it will not work as a true extender .. it must have the exact same ssid to allow connections to flow automatically between the extender and the router using whichever has the best signal ..I seen some reviews where its been set up incorrectly and they think the device is bad ... I have tried a few extenders and this is the best by far.Running multiple Netflix in my kids rooms no problems at all..

Works well
This repeater can be used in one of three ways: wi-fi to wi-fi, wi-fi to ethernet, and ethernet to wi-fi. I am using it in this last mode, to add a 5 GHz access point to a 2.4 GHz router, since the 2.4 GHz band is very congested here, while the 5 GHz band is quiet. The repeater is a cheaper way of doing this than buying a better router. The repeater works well. The only fault I can find is that if I assign it a fixed IP address, it fills its log with obscure error messages (though it still works all right as a repeater). It's quiet if assigned an address by the router - but there is then a risk that that address will clash with the printer's (this last is the router's fault).Ideally, the repeater would allow its subnet to connect via a VPN, but it doesn't. But that is perhaps asking too much of a simple device.Four stars.

Used to get an IP phone to work when on WiFi
I didn't buy this item to repeat my WiFi signal.I use a Polycom IP phone working from home and in my small office. I could have times where I work from meeting rooms or places with only the WiFi, but want to use my office phone. It is brilliant, but doesn't have wifi.I tried this repeater and did a fantastic job: it connected to my wifi, I connected the phone to the ethernet port available on the repeater and boom, the phone was connected like if I was on the LAN.I also plan on using it with other people working in our company in their home in places where they can't run a cable, instead of using the powerline adaptors.I am quite happy with this little thing

Works well on 2.4Ghz but issues with 5Ghz
Works fine for 2.4Ghz, boosting the signal effectively. But, as a few others have noted, the 5Ghz band has some issues. 1) you need to use a different SSID for the two bands (even if your router does not). If you don’t, your devices will always connect to the 2.4Ghz band. That’s true even if you are using a laptop with some control over the Wi-fi card and select “prefer 5Ghz”. You can only get a 5Ghz connection if you set a separate SSID and then connect to that. I played around for ages thinking the 5Ghz band was broken and eventually found this out by trial and error. 2) even once you’ve set a separate SSID for 5Ghz, the boosting seems very poor. Not non-existent, as a signal was available even when the original 5Ghz signal from the router was not. But poor - at a range of 10ft across a room between the extender and divide, the signal was medium at best.Others seem to be experiencing similar problems, although many seem to have had better luck and refer to decent 5Ghz speeds. But for me, I don’t think it is any more effective than a single band version.

Well pleased
Very easy to set up with my BT smart hub 2. Plug in somewhere near the router, press the WPS button on the router then press the WPS button on the extender and sit back and wait for it to connect - a couple of minutes. It firstly connected to the 5 GHz signal then I repeated the process and it also connected to the 2.4 GHz signal. I then moved it about halfway between the router and the poor reception area and the blue signal light on the extender showed that it was a suitable position to locate it. Result was a nearly full signal where it was previously at the lowest level of signal. Very happy to recommend this extender

Great for most users
As far as range extenders go, this (RE205) seems to be a good, solid product. However, I've just returned mine after using for 1 day. Setup was easy enough with WPS, however it didn't automatically connect to my 5Ghz network (my 2.4 & 5 use the same SSID), I had to manually add that. The range worked well, my main router is upstairs and this was placed downstairs and got a decent signal out to the garden. So why return it? I use my router to set up various rules for some devices (e.g. parental controls, firewall rules etc). All of these rely on the mac address of the device, unfortunately the RE205 changes half of the mac address meaning everything needs setting up twice.I'm going to invest in a 2nd mesh router instead to save the hassle. However, if mac addresses & firewall rules don't mean anything to you then this will work fine.

A good deal
I am an happy user of this device! After a few months use, I can say it is an excellent product. What I really appreciated is its versatility. Infact, I am using it as an access point rather than a range extender. Its configuration took only a few minutes: the dedicated smartphone allowed me in setting up the device wihout any pain. The signal is good and the two antennas can be moved in way to extend the signal in the direction required. Despite the intense use, it never reaches high temperature, and this is so important because it helps in offering always good performances. Definitely, I am a satisfied user of this product.

Poor performance and range
Product not fit for purpose. Repeater was placed in an area of strong signal (which works fine in that location for both my iPhone and iPad) but performed poorly on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. No amount of fiddling with the aerials made any difference. Moving it closer to the router helps but then it no longer extends the range further than the router.Might work for some, but for me it was a waste of money.
