Delish and Nutrish !
Thought you were so avant garde and culinary chic with your bulletproof beverages now did you ? Guess again! Not only are butter beverages ... NOT a new phenomena ... (Tibetans have been making butter tea for ages)... if you really want to take your ghee game to the next level .... there’s no other “haute-er” way to do so than by branching out beyond the bovine 🐄 !!! Now don’t get me wrong ... I love a good 🐄 sourced ghee ... but if you are really aiming to peruse your palate... maximize your gut gains (yak ghee has a significantly higher amount of short chain fatty acids over 🐄 ghee), indulge your inner ancient traditionalist (Tibetans use the indigenous yak population for ghee and not 🐮)... or simply want to enjoy a delish ghee with a longer shelf life (yak ghee is much more resistant to lipid oxidation) ... Try venturing outside the culinary norm with this wild pastured yak ghee by @goldnuggetghee .... which I found whilst stalking 🤫 the page of clean beauty boss babe @wellnesswithariel ... and knew it had to be mine. 🙌🏻..What’s more ... @goldnuggetghee doesn’t stop at yak ghee! Check them out for such divine creations as their chocolate honey ghee, mushroom ghee, vanilla lavender ghee, and get this.... GOAT 🐐 ghee (something this former goat farmer is going absolutely Gaga over) !!!!!! ..Can you say O.... M.... Ghee!!!?

Buttery Yak Ghee ❤️
Buttery Yak Ghee ❤️I love this stuff in my tea! It's has a rich deep buttery flavor! I like it it straight out of the jar. When I first heard about this I realize I had to try it. I mean Yak Ghee, come on, it just made me laugh. & I thought what the heck, I love gold nuggets other products so let’s give this one a shot. Turns out not only is it a novelty for me but I really like Yak Ghee. My favorite way to have is in my tea. Fyi if you’ve never tried adding Ghee to your coffee or tea your in for a really pleasant surprise.Over the years I've tried a lot of different brands and types of Ghee. But to this day I still remember the first time I tried Gold Nugget Ghee ( the regular one) it blow my mind. Apparently up to that point I had never had a good quality Ghee, I had just been getting the less expensive ones. To this day I haven’t found a better ghee out there. I really like their product line! Its hard to say which one is my favorite. I guess it kinda depends on my mood. The last few mornings I’ve been definitely reaching for the Yak ghee!

Yak ghee tastes almost cheesy
The yak ghee doesn’t taste quite like I was expecting. It has an almost gamey/cheesy flavor to it. It’s quite different than their cows milk ghee. I think it’s okay for certain things, such as adding to popcorn. But for some things, such as a sweet bread or muffin, I don’t think the flavor goes well. The consistency is smooth and not grainy as some ghee is. It spreads easily. I love the company, but personally I prefer the cows ghee over this one.

Great addition to bulletproof coffee!
I bought this out of curiosity, and out of the hope that yak - like goat - is different enough to get past my problems with cow dairy. Happily, I had no physical problems with the yak ghee. The truly interesting part is the scent and flavor of this product. It actually smells like cheddar cheese in the jar. Its taste is significantly different, very earthy, and does not resemble cow, goat, or sheep in any way. I was unsure whether it was going to go with coffee or ruin it, but was happily surprised. I gave it a chance, alternating it with my usual goat ghee in my bulletproof coffee. It may be an acquired taste, but by the end of the small jar, I seem to have acquired it, and have just received my second jar. Five stars out of five. YMMV.02/05/2021: Updated to add that this is now my favorite 'buttery' addition to bulletproof coffee. Totally unique, and delicious. I've ordered it three times already, and am finally going for the 'big' jar. Can't wait til it arrives.

I recommend yak butter to add a different flavor to your dishes
If you like to try different butters and cook with them, I recommend yak butter to add a different flavor to your dishes. This butter has a strong yellow color, smells amazing and tastes super delicious especially on scrambled eggs. I don't use it in all my cooking recipes because the jar is small, so I save it as a special treat. I also enjoy adding a teaspoon to my coffee in the morning. Yak butter in my morning cup of coffee makes me feel energized and gives me clarity, which is great to get creativity going early in the morning. Yak butter also has many health benefits, vitamins that are essential for good health. It's definitely something I would buy again and again!

YAK...NICE TOUCH but seems poorly processed
Although I am elated that someone decided to provide a YAK BUTTER product, which surely must be superior in nutrients to the majority of other ghee's out there simply because of the wild pasture YAKS on the plains of Mongolia graze on... I don't feel that this company knows how best to process the butter after having this and their cow ghee. When it comes down to it, this is a tiny jar of over priced, grainy, liquidy, bland tasting ghee. It probably could have been way better, if this company had a better ghee making technique. Both their YAK and COW ghee was grainy, yet runny and bland. :(I am used to 4th & Heart's bovine ghee which is grassfed, cheaper priced, smoother (whipped creamy at room temp), and more rich and buttery tasting. I bet they could do Yak butter justice.

It's different every jar because the yak is different?
Since this is the only yak ghee available I have no frame of reference. I bought 2 8oz jars in different periods. And both jars have tasted different due to the difference in the actual yak (I assume). The flavor is earthy, grassy, and a bit gamey. Texture is thick with a very fine graininess to it. The color also varies a bit, one was a paler yellow and the other was more golden. One jar was more gamey than the other as well. It has a very rich flavorful and might need some getting use to. I use yak butter in my butter tea in the afterboon mostly. Overall this is a fantstic product!(The pictures are of the more recent purchase).
