Urban Armor Gear UAG Metropolis Military Drop Tested Case / Cover Designed for Surface Pro 7 / Surface Pro 6 / Surface Pro (5th Gen, 2017) / Surface Pro 4 - Cobalt

The first thing you'll notice when you receive the package is that it was designed for SP4 not 6. Though it will physically fit, if you've the heart to ram your device in with enough force, but as you can see in the pictures you're screen protector will be at risk if you already have one on. Basically, apart from the device, nothing else was meant to be protected including the type cover. The corners are extremely hard and I had to go through hell pulling out my surface pro out as I needed to install a micro SD card. The kick stand is pretty flimsy and if you've already used the integrated stand on your surface device, I promise you'll be disappointed. Overall, it is cumbersome, heavy and not meant for everyday carrying. Also, since you can't really take it off your device easily or use it alongwith a screen protector - especially when your surface screen will be at risk even with the Armor on.

Review Update after 5 Months of UseThe cover doesn't allow the device to dissipate its heat completely. This can cause the major known screen flickering issue of surface devices. Kindly read about flickergate before buying this cover or even before buying surface devices.Old ReviewAt first i was skeptical, but watched few videos online and then got the assurance that it is some good brand. The quality is awesome. Very nicely built. Back texture is good, doesn't feel rubber or plastic. A good blend feel. Only thing which i didn't like is the thickness. Twice the thickness of surface pro 7. But without this thickness you will not get good protection. Just make ure that this fits very nicely on the tab, so expect some screen protection rip off at the edges. Be careful and very tactical while inserting the tab. Despite everything i give 5 star just because of quality.

Solid overall protection, nice functionality as the rear stand holds the device sure footed, I tend to drop my gadgets and a minor slip gave me confidnece that the case would protect my Surface Pro 4. What really annoys is, the weight of the case, which adds almost 450 gms to a gadget weighing 780 gms. Price pinches a bit, but satisfies you with it's ruggedness and features.

Not the quality that I had expected for that price.The aluminium back rest keeps popping out. Some things missing compared to what the company had shown in their YouTube vedio.Possibly a duplicate I may have received.

Bought it for my surface pro as my 6 year old had to use it for his online classes. Didn't want to take any chances as it's a costlier purchase. Thought of buying reliable cover in which the tablet remains safe. This looks pretty safe. Look is good. Though it's costly. A price of around 3000-4000 would have been good. But, not much good alternative available. So, had to go with this.

Manufacturer and Supplier both excellent. This military-tough case is the best thing developed for Microsoft's Surface series PC/tablet and it can be used with or without the keyboard/cover. The rear stand permits several angles, and all facilities are accessible bar one - the Micro SD card cannot be accessed so fit one before fitting the UAG to keep critical files backed up on. Note these points: Colours are available. The case fits well but is difficult to fit so do regard it as permanent! The presence of the protective cover meant I had to reduce the diameter of my audio jack, but most will fit easily, and the same applies to some attachments to USB where the case may prevent full insertion, but do NOT cut the case! Tech Armour's Ballistic screen protector (from Amazon) adds additional screen protection with or without the cover. The built-in pencil clip is the perfect answer to an irritating problem Microsoft did not tackle! The UAG makes the assembly heavier, but takes a load off your mind! The UAG is the perfect answer and all my other covers go in the bin. Just choose your colour, and get one!

Great case, I was disappointed to be unable to source an Otterbox Defender for my Surface Pro 4, as I use them on my iPad/iPhone/S7 and they are pretty indestructible. This was the closest I could find and after watching a couple of YouTube reviews decided to give it a try.It is not as well made as the Otterbox Defender and I paid just over £50 at the time of sale so was hoping it would be as good. It uses a single construction (unlike the Otterbox rigid inner and rubber outer) and doesn't include a screen protector. However once fit it feels solid, it has good cutouts for all your ports and fits so well I almost snapped my Surface Pro trying to take it off. The holder for the pen is great as it uses friction rather than the magnet so you have far less chance of losing it. The case protrudes slightly over your screen giving protection if you lay it face down.The only negative I can see is the ratchet mechanism in the stand is plastic and I am unsure how well this will last, the stand is a solid brushed metal so I don't know why the mechanism that holds it in the 3 positions could not be also made of this material. However I could be worrying about nothing and it may last.

Like all the UAG cases I have owned for various devices in the past, this one is great for providing protection for the Surface Pro 6. It's light, and doesn't add too much bulk to the device compared to the amount of protection you get. Protection of the device's corners are particularly important and UAG cases always seem to provide that well.I have not had any issues with cooling, but I haven't put a high demand on the CPU or GPU yet so this may change once I start using it for graphics and audio applications. It fits the device tightly, so tightly in fact that it was a little difficult getting the device inside, but that's a good thing in my opinion. All ports are accessible and all buttons are also operable whilst also being fully protected. The case also has notches where the speakers are, so that device sound output is not compromised. I don't own the keyboard cover but it loos like the case has a gap at the bottom to allow you to attach it, I may be wrong.The only thing that I am a little disappointing by, is the stand mechanism on the back of the case. Rather than accommodate the existing stand on the back of the Surface Pro 6, UAG have implemented their own stand, which is rather ugly with it's roughly finished metal edges. The ratchet mechanism feels like it is of poor quality, it's clunky and stiff. I wince every time I have to adjust it due to the amount of force you have to apply and the way it "snaps" into place, makes you worry it might break! For this reason I have only just discovered that mechanism can extend much further than I thought, but it still doesn't tilt as much as the Surface's own stand. Had UAG put a little more thought into the stand, this case would be near perfection.

fits my surface pro 2017 spot on add a bit of weight but you soon get used to it looks greatprotected from bumps scratches and drops UAG never fail to deliveras other people have said the stand is plastic ?no its metal and holds up pretty well place your thumb at the bottom of the locking stand to release and close you'll have no issuesthats only so you dont actually pull on the case and break the pin as again people have said just think about it it has 5 setting angles all of which i have used with no problems, buy this case you wont be disappointedme personally i feel its worth every penny i paid just under £38 quid

I purchased this case because I wanted a rugged case to use whilst travelling and also to protect the original kickstand from stress caused by using the device on a train table and all the movement that follows with such travel!The first case I received the kickstand was too loose and the tablet would fall over - but the replacement sent by Amazon is much better. The kickstand holds up the device, and the quality of the case is good.Overall I am pleased with the case, it is very rugged and protects my Surface Pro 2017 well. I think my device would hold up a drop well.Although, I am not 100% convinced the kickstand will last - this seems to be a cheap part of the case. It is a plastic hinge which makes a lot of noise and could snap easily. Hopefully it will last.For now - the case is good and I am pleased with my purchase. Time will tell if this was a good investment or not.
