The striking rod itself is about: 2-7/8" (~73mm), the assembly (including the handle) is: 4" (~102mm) long.

Q: Hi. Iam interested in this fire starter. Does two pack mean two of the same product? or does it describe the striker and steel as seperate.

The steel and striker come together as a set and u get 2 sets.

Q: Do you have to hold it down into the object in order for it to spark?

Hold it close to the object, but I wouldn't recommend using the stricker that comes with it. I use my pocket knife. The one that comes with it is not hardened steel

The striking rod diameter is: Ø5/16" (~7.9mm).
