I don't think it's designed to be fireproof - if it is it should have some sort of rating in the description saying how long it should last in a fire. It's as described and my nephew was pleased with it

Q: Can this fit an a5 notebook?

I would not put one in myself as it would be a very tight fit but if softback you could perhaps squeeze it in at a pinch but it would not lay flat. There is a lip protruding inside where the lock catches so it also could not be a thick A5 notebook. If any help, a A6 notebook fits in no problem at all.

Yeah its fairly big, if you are talking about bank notes then very much so.
