Q: Is the case suppose to close all the way?

Hi! Yes you could close it and the keyboard will be in sleep mode when you don't use it.

Q: How is the iPad kept protected from scratches from the case itself? Does it have padding or a gasket?

Hi! There are two rubber paddings on the case, it will protect ipad from scratching.

Q: Does it type symbols and characters correctly? I had to return one from Hotlife brand because of these problem

My keyboard types symbols correctly. I haven’t had a problem with it.

Q: Can the trackpad be turned off?

Hi! Yes please press the combo keys "control" + "option" (with screen icon) to turn off/on the touchpad.
